Day 20 – Confident Expectation
Scriptures to Meditate on and Pray Through –
Call on me, and I will answer you and show you great and marvelous things, which you do not know. – Jeremiah 33:3
This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I will still be inquired of and once again yield to them to do what they ask of me… – Ezekiel 36:37
Behold, they will come from afar–some from the north, some from the west, and some from the region of Aswan. – Isaiah 49:12
Egypt will come with gifts of rich cloths and precious metals; Ethiopia will soon stretch out her hands to God. – Psalm 68:31
The least of you will become a thousand, the smallest a mighty nation. I am the LORD; in its time I will do it swiftly. – Isaiah 60:22
How to Pray: WIth Confident Expectation of an Answer –
Many texts in Scripture refer to promises definitively made, but their fulfillment depends upon prayer: God must be inquired of to do it. Pray for God’s fulfillment of His promises to His Son and His church, and expect the answer. God fulfills His promises. Pray for the salvation of the lost–those who do not believe on God. Plead God’s promises. Claim what He says He will do in response to our intercessory prayer.
What to Pray: For God’s Spirit on the Lost –
Pray for the lost, especially those who have yet to hear the Gospel. Pray for those who have heard it and rejected it. Many of these have been born into other religions that are intertwined in those cultures and have practiced them their whole lives. Pray for the Mulsim and the Buddhist, the Hindu, the Atheist, and the Naturalist. Think of those in China, with her 1.4 billion people – a million a month dying without Christ. Think of Africa, with its 1.2 billion. Think of the thirty million a year going down into the darkness of hell. (Out of the over 4.5 Million COVID-19 deaths worldwide, how many have died knowing Jesus Christ?) We usually think of the lost as those in other countries, but anyone who rejects God is lost without Him. Pray especially for those who have yet to hear the Word of God, the Good News of Jesus. If Christ gave His life for them, will you not do so? The least we can do is give ourselves up to intercede for them. Just begin, if you have never yet begun, with this simple school of intercession. The 15 minutes you give will make you feel this is not enough. God’s Spirit will draw you further in and higher up. Persevere, however feeble you are. Ask God to give you His strength to pray daily. Ask God to give you some nation or tribe to pray for. Can anything be nobler than to do as Christ did? Give your life in Jesus for the lost that they might know Him.
